The opening of an international symposium on “Mosque and Its Functions in a Changing World”, hosted by our Faculty, and organized in cooperation with Sakarya Governorship, Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality, Sakarya Provincial Mufti and Yunus Emre Mosque Foundation (YECVA), was opened by the President of Religious Affairs. Prof Dr Ali Erbaş.
The symposium started with the recitation of the Holy Quran by our faculty student, Beytullah Bilgiç. The President of Religious Affairs, Prof. Dr Ali Erbaş; our Rector, Prof. Dr Hamza Al; Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Deputy Secretary General Ziya Cevherli, Sakarya Provincial Mufti Hasan Başiş; our Dean, Prof. Dr Ahmet Bostancı, Yunus Emre Mosque Foundation President Mehmet Keskin, faculty members, Diyanet staff and students attended to the symposium.
The symposium was held on 7-9 October 2022; a total of 41 papers were presented in Turkish, Arabic and English by participants from Turkey, Palestine, Indonesia, Jordan, Oman and Sudan. In addition to a panel held right after the opening session of the symposium, “Social Functions of Mosques”, “Mosques by Category”, “Mosques Abroad”, “Mosques in the Historical Process”, “Religious Officials and Mosques”, “Mosques with Various Functions”, “Good Examples in Mosque Services”, “Mosques in the Islamic World and Their Functions, and “Mosques and Their Functions in the Islamic World and Turkey”, so there were nine sessions and an evaluation session.
