Turkish Theology and Islamic Sciences Faculties’ Deans Council organized a workshop on Theology and Islamic Sciences Faculties’ 120th Years.
Our Dean Prof Ahmet Bostanci who is also Vise President of the Theology and Islamic Sciences Faculty and Deans Council moderated the workshop. It was broadcast live on the social media accounts of Sakarya University.
The President of the Turkish Religious Affairs, Prof Ali Erbas, made the opening speech by emphasizing the Theology Faculties’ role in providing religious education and producing knowledge in the line of Qur’an and Sunnah.
There have been two sessions. The first session was moderated by the Rector of Recep Tayyip Erdogan University, Prof Huseyin Karaman. Two papers were the main focus of this session; “History of Theology and Islamic Sciences Faculties from the Ottoman Empire to the Present” by Prof Huseyin Yilmaz and “The Place of Theology and Islamic Sciences Faculties in the Religious Life of the Society” by Prof Ihsan Capcioglu, respectively. Many academics from different universities responded to their papers.
The second session’s moderator was the Rector of Mus Alparslan University, Prof Fethi Ahmet Canpolat. Once again, two papers were evaluated during the session. Their titles were as following; “Place of Theology and Islamic Sciences Faculties in Scientific Life” by Prof Ilyas Celebi, and “Structural Problems in Theology and Islamic Sciences Faculties” by Prof Halit Calis.
