Our Faculty Received International Accreditation Certificate with a Ceremony
A First in Turkey and the Islamic World
As a result of the international accreditation application made by our Faculty to the Theology Accreditation Agency (IAA) in 2020, our primary and evening education programs were entitled to receive the International Accreditation Certificate. According to this result, our Faculty became the first to obtain accreditation in the field of higher religious education in Turkey and the Islamic World.
To the ceremony held in our Conference Hall; Our Rector, Prof. Dr Hamza Al; Vice-Rectors, Prof. Dr Umit Kocabicak; Prof. Dr Özer Köseoğlu; our Dean, Prof. Dr Ahmet Bostancı, Sakarya Provincial Mufti Hasan Başiş, Sakarya Provincial Director of National Education Ebubekir Sıddık Savaşçı, IAA President Prof. Dr Halis Aydemir and the accreditation team, Faculty Deans, NGO presidents and representatives, directors of various imam hatip high schools, our teachers and students attended.
Delivering the opening speech of the meeting, our Dean, Prof. Dr Ahmet Bostancı, said that “I would like to thank you for your participation in witnessing this memorable, meaningful and historical day of our Faculty, which was established in 1992, reached its 30th year, …. now registered that it is one of the most rooted theology faculties in Turkey. Thank you all so much.” Giving information about the accreditation processes in his speech, Prof. Bostancı said that “Considering our quality studies, it is possible to achieve success in our accreditation journey, which started at the beginning of 2020 and lasted for approximately 2.5 years and said, We are in the happiness of breaking new ground in the Islamic world, and we thank our Lord for this. We are also aware that we have only reached one stop now when we are experiencing the joy of success and that our journey to quality continues.”
İbrahim al-Ensari, Chairman of the International Board of Theology Accreditation Agency, who attended the meeting online, congratulated the SAU Faculty of Theology for the academic accreditation certificate he received.
Expressing that this success achieved on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the SAU Faculty of Theology is much more meaningful, President of Theology Accreditation Agency Prof. Dr Halis Aydemir, in his speech, emphasized that Sakarya University is the most suitable place for quality in the accreditation project, which includes nearly 30 international evaluators extending to Malaysia, Indonesia, Qatar, Oman, Tunisia, Libya and Ivory Coast.
